A young man with a hoody and some Skittles: Is this such a threatening

sight? For some it appears, it may be enough to justify drawing a firearm.

A New Weapon is Born in America: The 'Hoody' (Mediapart, France)

"Seeing a Black in a hoodie at nightfall, Zimmerman granted himself the right to gun him down. Because a hooded Black person at day’s end is reason enough for force majeure. ... Once Trayvon was killed, George was quite annoyed to discover that the young man was unarmed. ... Fortunately, American justice and its ferocious attorneys know how to set a precedent. God Bless America!"

France - Mediapart - Original Article (French)

Textile as political statement: The humble hoody has taken on a significance beyond anything one might have imagined before the killing of Trayvon Martin.

That's it - it's official. The verdict has come down, a new category has been created. First it was guns and knives -  now we have Black arms.

The first Black weapon on record is: The hoody pulled over the head of a person of color.

That is the conclusion of the trial of George Zimmerman for the murder of young Trayvon Martin (17). Martin had the misfortune of visiting his father, who lived in a development where there had been frequent burglaries. He happened upon George Zimmerman - a self-proclaimed area sheriff. Seeing a Black in a hoodie at nightfall, Zimmerman granted himself the right to gun him down. Because a hooded Black person at day’s end is reason enough for force majeure.

Once Trayvon was killed, George was quite annoyed to discover that the young man was unarmed. ... Fortunately, American justice and its ferocious attorneys know how to set a precedent. God Bless America!

In this case, where the current president, Barack Obama, had made a statement lacking impartiality: "If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon"; in this case, in which we rehash again the notion that guns shouldn't be on the belts of every citizen since westerns haven't been in Hollywood fashion for quite some time; and in this case, we made up for Barack's lack of impartiality by selecting a jury in Georgy's image (White/Hispanic).

G. "If-he-dies-man (-ugh)" has just been acquitted on the pretext that he was right to feel insecure, when confronted with that hoody. [The French - G.'S'il-meurt-man is word play on the name "George Zimmerman" and a quote from his trial, which is lost in translation]. ... The NRA (The U.S. gun lobby) is rubbing its hands.

God Bless America - perhaps - but particularly - George Hurts Afro-America.

[French world play again. In French, blesso means "hurts" - so Georges Blesse Afro-america - means George 'Hurts' Afro-America.]

I cannot resist reminding you of U.S. Representative Bubby Rush's speech to Congress. [below].
